There is going to be an influx of new music in the area thanks to the Strathmore Musical Arts Society.

They are hosting the Nova Scotiables on April 2, John Wort Hannam on May 14, and the Travelling Mabels on November 19.

“We're trying right now to reach different ages from 15 all the way up to 90,” explained the society’s vice president Brooke Quinn. “We also want to be able to provide music from local artists and help our community socialize and connect.”

On the other side of the coin, Quinn explained that they also strive to open doors for upcoming artists by giving them a larger audience.

“We hope to give artists the ability to connect with other musicians in the music industry,” she continued. “We think exposure in the community is an integral part of growth and a sense of community. Especially, after the last couple of years, it is going to help them, musicians, to get new fans.”

Tickets can be found at Assist Business Centre, Pro Water Strathmore, connectFirst & Strathmore Home Hardware. Tickets are also available for purchase online at the Strathmore Musical Arts Society’s website

There are many people on hand to make these events happen, and Quinn asks anyone interested to email the society at info@strathmorearts.com.

“We're always looking for volunteers. We like people who want to come out to events and help out with that and also bring new ideas to the group of different artists.”

Their first concert with the Nova Scotiables will be on April 2, tickets are $50, and doors open at 6 pm at the Strathmore Travelodge.
