The Kevin K Band is making their way back to entertain the crowds at the Strathmore Stampede this year for two shows one on Saturday night and one on Sunday afternoon.

Lead singer Kevin Knopf is thrilled to be getting the chance to play live again, "The last time we played was a year ago we did a live stream from MCC recording studios and we did that for Country Music Alberta that was fun but you're playing to the camera to get on stage and play in front of an actual audience is really a lot of fun"

Getting back on stage isn't always easy after being away from it for so long it takes a minute for your muscle memory to kick back in.

The band played at the Farm and Flea market on July 17th and laughingly Knopf said it took a minute to get everything going again, "It's one thing to do it in rehersal you get all excited.  In the very first song for instance I was way too far from my microphone, it was just a lot of fun to try to get that muscle memory back and then to play at home it's always fantastic playing Strathmore. I just love this town I love supporting music here and Strathmore seems to let us get up and make some noise so it's great."

Looking at getting to perform again has given Kevin a new appreciation for getting to spend time with his bandmates and being in front of a crowd. The interaction with other musicians again has definitely been the highlight for him so far this year.

When people come to see a Kevin K Band show they can expect a very high-energy show, "The best way to describe it is good southern rock and roll foot-tapping where you just want to get up and dance. That's the kind of stuff we're doing and that's the kind of stuff I write and this band really enjoys playing it, we're all original band."

Kevin feels it's really important to have music that people can relate to so even though people may be sitting and listening to songs they've never heard before they are going to want to get up and dance and have a good time.

For those who have seen Kevin play before, they may be shocked, after having his signature long hair look for many years he will be hitting the stage with a new cropped do this year.

"My youngest daughter just kind of got after me about changing the look and the summer was here and I got sick of tired of eating my hair, and having it wrapped around my face when I was sleeping, my daughter actually came up with the style and my sister-in-law cut it for me it's a nice change."

The calendar is filling up for the Kevin K Band and they'll be performing many more times over the summer kept up to date with their shows through their Facebook Page - The Kevin K Band and be sure to check them out at this year's Strathmore Stampede.
