The United Conservative Party (UCP) government made the announcement last week that six new schools, all fully funded for construction through the 2024 Budget, will be coming to communities in southern Alberta.

One of the new schools will be a K–9 Catholic school in Chestermere.

According to the UCP government, the money is coming from a $2.1 billion capital investment over the next three years.

The other fully funded schools are:

  • A K-4 school in the Calgary community of Evanston
  • A Grade 10–12 Catholic school in the Calgary community of Rangeview
  • A K-8 in Cochrane
  • A K-8 school in Airdrie's South Windsong community
  • A K-8 school in Airdrie’s Bayview community

“Alberta is growing, and Budget 2024’s Capital Plan supports thousands of new student spaces. Alberta’s government is ensuring students in K–12 continue to thrive and succeed,” says Nate Horner, Minister of Treasury Board and Finance.
