The Wheatland Kings played against the Lomond Lakers in their last home game on Saturday, December 15. The Kings dominated the entire game, earning them the victory.

The first period had two goals from the Kings early on. The first goal was made by Lucas Muenchrath from Zachary Suntjens. Shortly after the Kings earned their second goal by Kody Hammond from Eric Sandum. The second half of the first period was defensive, before the Lakers earned their only goal of the game with a minute left in the period, ending the first period 2-1 Kings.

The second period started off with an early goal for the Kings by Rylee Hebert from Brenden Moore. The rest of the period transitioned back to a defensive play, but before the end of the period the Kings earned two more goals. The first by Isaac Benoit from Lucas Muenchrath on a power play. Their second goal came a few seconds later by Parker Keer from Bailey Filkohazy. This ended the second period 5-1 for the Kings.

Frustrations escalated in the third period, which resulted in multiple penalties for fighting for each team. Shortly after the Kings earned their sixth goal of the game by Kody Hammond by Thomas Tyson. At the halfway point the Kings earned two more goals. The first by Isaac Benoit from Cole Busslinger, and the second by Kyle Bracko from Robert Butterwick. Near the end of the match the Kings earned their last goal of the game by Isaac Benoit from Zachary Suntjens. Benoit's hat trick goal helped the Kings to a 9-1 victory.

With a fantastic game under the Kings belt they will be tough to beat in their next game coming up in the new year against the Cochrane Generals on January 4, at 7 p.m.
