I have to honestly say, I thought it was an April Fool's Day joke when I heard that the Canadian Women's Hockey League was folding.

It was just the other day that the Calgary Inferno won the Clarkson Cup.  Hearing this bit of news was so disappointing. I love sports and I can still remember learning how to skate as a little girl on a slough.

I remember one of my first times playing hockey outside at night in the Rockies. I had on an ugly red sweater under my jacket that I imagined was the Maurice 'The Rocket' Richard's for the Montreal Canadiens.

If you know anything about me, you know that I love hockey. Like absolutely love hockey. Whenever I can help advance women's sports I am so happy to help.

So I just couldn't believe it. I am told that some of the teams are already being absorbed into a U. S. league, the National Women's Hockey League. They have plans to expand to Toronto and Montreal.

We are so lucky to have women's hockey right in our backyard. The women are good enough to beat the men in the All-Star skills competition.  What does it mean for the future?
