The Strathmore Wheatland Kings walked away with a pair of losses over the weekend.

They had a 4-2 loss against the Okotoks Bison and a 1-2 loss against the High River Flyers.

"We played alright; we are just ravished with injuries at the moment, and that is what is killing us the most. We were playing short-staffed, and it's hard to beat those top teams short-staffed," said the General Manager of the Wheatland Kings, Lee Smith.

Since the Strathmore Wheatland Kings were so short-staffed, they called up players from other teams to help at both games.

On Friday (Jan 12), they called up Corson Burns from the U18 Wheatland Chiefs, Adam Lee, and Phoenix Flett from the Okotoks Oilers. It was also Flett's HJHL debut.

On Saturday (Jan 13), they called up Corson Burns again, Nolan Sawatsky, and Tanner Phillips, all from the Wheatland Chiefs.

"I think they did all right. They played well. Glad that we could call them on."

Next weekend, the Strathmore Wheatland Kings will face the Medicine Hat Cubs on Saturday (Jan 20) and the Coledale Copperheads on Sunday (Jan 21), both home games in Strathmore.
