Brad and Ryan Fleischer brothers who perform in the duo Flaysher out of Calgary are feeling that itch to get out to perform as they have just released their latest single Flat Broke Famous. For now, they are doing what most are and performing through live streams on their social media platforms to continue to share their music.

Alberta musicians are feeling the struggle from the restrictions put in place due to Covid-19 heading into the summer months, that is when most singers, bands and musicians head out on the road to festivals, fairs, and many other venues to perform across Alberta.

Since they were young Brad and Ryan had talked about forming a band and making music their focus. A lot of that influence has come from their parents, "We'd ride to work in the back of dads truck and say, push in the tape dad, and he'd push in the tape and it would be Bruce Springstein or Bod Seger," said Brad. Growing up in the 90's their parents continue to share music from different genres, there was a mix of influences ranging from storytellers like Garth Brooks and George Strait in the country lane to the likes of meatloaf and a lot of blue-collar rock.

With the shutdowns across Alberta, they feel the pull to get back on stage as they release their new single Flat Broke Famous, "Things have been a little tougher in the last month, but it is a cool dynamic between Brad and I," said Ryan as he recounts their performance on stage," We actually played our first show together when Brad was 14 and I was 12, we've basically grown up on stage and it feels like home to us."

Currently, to keep busy they are working on promoting their new single and writing, talking a lot with different radio stations, and both very thankful to be in self-isolation together to keep writing as well get the opportunity to perform on live streams across their social media channels.

Brad sees this is a great platform to perform in the current climate, "No matter what medium it is "live" is a very interesting thing because you don't have the applause and you shout out to an audience that's not right there, at the same time it's not audible but they are there and there is a high demand for it, I think music is always uplifting the framework is still there but the medium is just shifted."

They do say that getting that instant feedback and connection online shows that what they are doing is hitting home with people and bringing a smile to their day. Ryan is excited to share their songs across social media and said, "The other cool thing is people can tune in from wherever they are, we have people tuning in from the East Coast, we have friends there, people could tune in from overseas the opportunity is there for everyone who wants to join they can."

You can follow Flaysher on Facebook, Instagram, Spotify and Itunes for live streams, show dates, and new music releases.
