The Vault Cultural Collective is doing an Art Competition, the 2023 People’s Choice Awards as part of Strathmore’s Culture Days that is happening on September 16th. The art contest was open to people who are 12 and under and 12- 19 years old.

Art enthusiasts can vote once a day but for as many days as they want to. After they fill out their ballot and put it in the box than there is also the option of entering your name to win a beautiful matted print from an original oil painting by Vault artist Ellen Lorne called "Barrel Racer".

Chair for the Vault Carolyn Steeves explains that no names are under the paintings when you go and vote and that they didn't even put what type of art it is.

"We didn't even say the medium. When people come in, they'll just see the title of the piece of art and nothing else. There is a wide variety of art here for the contest that people can come down and vote for. Hopefully, we will get more people next year to enter the contest."

This is the first year that the vault has ever done the People's Choice Awards and what makes it even more special is the fact that the winner will be announced during Strathmore Cultural Days.

Voting will continue until 12 P.M on Saturday, September 16 and the three winners will be presented with a cheque at the Amphitheatre during Cultural Days. The prize for the 12 and under will be $100, the prize for the 13-18 will be $200 and the prize for the 19 and over will be $300.
