Times are tough for everyone right now, and especially so for some local farmers in the area who have noticed some unusual people around their crops lately.

Posts on social media have reported parts of crops being stolen from in the area. Strathmore RCMP confirmed that there was one case of this happening, but it is isolated.

Nevertheless, if you see someone on your property that shouldn’t be there, they encourage you to call them.

“If someone sees someone in a field that shouldn’t be there picking crops, I’m not even sure what they would be doing in there at this time of year but if they are not supposed to be there, call the police and report it as suspicious people, we will come out and try and identify them, and figure out what they are actually doing,” explained Corporal Robert Kuehn.

Unfortunately, this kind of crime is easy to go under the radar in a large field. Corporal Kuehn suggests neighbors watch out for each other.

“Other than neighbors watching out for each for any suspicious activity that is going on, and calling police with what they see, is all you can do for this type of thing.”
