A dinosaur record for the ages has come up short.

The Town of Drumheller recently tried to break a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as dinosaurs, with over 3,000 people in attendance.

Unfortunately, that goal wasn't reached due to a technicality.

Staff with Travel Drumheller said in a Facebook post that due to the high volume of dinosaurs they could not obtain an exact measurement to officially break the record.

StrathmoreNow reached out to Travel Drumheller for comment on the story, but we have yet to hear back.

Participants took to the post, with one saying he had travelled from Cranbrook and met people from as far away as Nanaimo, Victoria and even a visitor from Dubai.

Many people said they were disappointed with the result but will keep coming back to the event in the future.

One woman wrote that just because the town didn't get a ribbon for first place, doesn't mean they lost.

According to the post the town will attempt to break the record again in the future as the Jurassic Jamboree will now be an annual event.
