On Saturday May 13 multiple emergency services personnel were dispatched to a property on Highway 24 to get a fire under control.

At one point firefighters were staged on Highway 24 and RCMP were blocking access to Highway 24 from Highway 1.

Only residents located North of the property the emergency crews were working at were permitted to enter off Highway 1.

Wheatland County's Manager of Emergency and Fire Services Mike Bourgon said an investigation is still ongoing so he couldn't provide specific details, but said no people were injured and the animals on the property are all safe.

As for the fire itself, it was a structure fire, and Bourgon said it was the shop and a few small outbuildings.

Also present at the fire was the Rocky View County fire department, as Wheatland County and Rocky View County have a mutual aid agreement and help each other out with emergencies when able. The Strathmore Fire Department was also on location.
