This summer between 250 and 300 Saskatoon berry bushes will be planted at Siksika Nation. Members of the nation are invited to join volunteers from the Calgary Tree Planting team to plant the bushes which will be located near the Siksika Business plaza on July 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to the First Nation, this is the first step to Siksika Nation’s own Saskatoon berry farm that will be utilized and operated by the nation. This farm will provide berries to the community and new economic opportunities for the Nation in years to come.

Nation members are asked to dress for the weather, bring snacks and water wear closed toe shoes and bring gardening tools like a spade, rake, or shovel, and or wheelbarrow. To sign up email volunteer@yyctree.ca.
