Success was had at the grand opening of George Freeman School on today.

The ceremony started off with Wayne Funk welcoming the Golden Hills Board of Trustees, which was followed up by O Canada sung by George Freeman School students.

Bevan Daverne, Superintendent of Golden Hills School Division, talked about the facility. He said, “This is an amazing and beautiful facility.” “Our staff, it's a lot of effort to start a new school, and they did amazing.”

Michael Walters from Alberta Education was on hand for the presentation of the plaque to Laurie Huntley.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the end of the event. Helping with the ribbon cutting was the Golden Hills Board of Trustees, Bevan Daverne, Wayne Funk Principal of George Freeman School, Mayor Pat Fule, Reeve Amber Link, and Larry Freeman, son of George Freeman whos name was used for the school.

Funk said “It's a really exciting day, it's been a long time coming. I’ve been on the job for two and a half years. It's great that it’s finally happening.” He said that “The kids love their building, it's a spectacular space to be a part of.”
