It was announced on April 30 that as part of the 1st phase relaunch to reopen services in the province that golf courses across Alberta would be allowed to open on May 4th. On Friday, May 1, golf course owners were advised that they would actually be allowed to open on May 2nd as long as they could meet the guidelines.

Korina Roussel Owner Operator of Oxbow Country Golf Course noted at this time they were waiting for the revised guidelines to open and as long as those were received this afternoon they would be taking tee times for Saturday and will be open from 9 am to 6 pm.

"We are definitely opening tomorrow and we're supposed to have the guidelines from the Alberta government this afternoon sometime until we know for sure what they need us to do we are at a standstill," said Roussel.

Currently, there are still restrictions in place which would include keeping the clubhouse closed which currently would mean no access to bathrooms or outhouses Roucell noted, however, there will be additional clarification later Friday afternoon where that may be adjusted. In addition to that, there would be a restriction on who can ride in golf carts, and golfers are not permitted to arrive more than 20 minutes ahead of their scheduled tee time, at this time there will be no walk-ons accepted all golfers must have a tee time booked.

Similar to Oxbow Country Golf Course the Strathmore Golf Club Will be opening on May 2 as well and are currently taking bookings.

Deb Dancey Office Administrator with the Strathmore Golf Club, noted they will be opening as of May 2nd, 8 am to close, "We're booking tee times via the telephone right now and it is a go for Saturday." Dancey explained what golfers can do in regards to carts, "It will be one cart per person or they can walk, however, people from the same households can ride together."  With course set to open on May 2 and this time the driving range at the Strathmore Golf Club will remain closed until further notice. 

Currently, there are no mens or ladies leagues in effect for golfers as of this time but there is the possibility that those may still go ahead at a later date in the season.
