Even the fog on Saturday couldn't deter crowds of all ages that came out to take in the festivities for Rogers Hometown Hockey in Strathmore.

The first day of the two-day event featured street hockey, hockey skills events, live music with the Mitch Belot Band, and lots of chances to take photos and meet celebrity guests like Tara Slone, Matt Stajan, Curtis Glencross, Mason Raymond and Mike Commodore. All the the events revolved around the parking lot of the Strathmore Family Centre. While inside the Family Centre visitors enjoyed watching minor ringette and hockey games.

It all started in the morning with the Strathmore and District Chamber of Commerce's downtown festival, a free pancake breakfast provided by the Strathmore Lions Club in the Strathmore Centre mall parking lot. There was lots of swag to be had, along with hot chocolate, a skills competition, and smore competition.

Tonight there will be a charity hockey game between fire and emergency services and minor ringette featuring Mayor Pat Fule at 7 p.m.

Come down to the main event on Sunday, visit with the staff from 104.5 More Country at our booth, and watch the live broadcast of the NHL hockey game between the Calgary Flames and the Dallas Stars.
