The Luke Loftus Memorial Fundraiser Family Reunion was held on July 6. The fundraiser was held for the Luke Loftus Hope Fund and Lacrosse Fund, which was created in memory of lacrosse player Luke Loftus who tragically passed away.

The fund is used to help kids who cannot afford the equipment to play lacrosse.

“Somebody started the fund at the time, it was an emotional time for sure, and somebody was smart enough to just say ‘why don’t we start this’ because people wanted to contribute at that time. It was created that way, and it's been going now for ten years,” explained Shawna Lowe Loftus, mother of Luke.

The event had a silent auction, with all the funds from the auction going to the fund, beef on a bun, and games for kids. The day finished off with fireworks, and a bonfire.

“It amazes me how many people contribute to the fundraiser, and just how many people show up to bid on this stuff. It's a great community, and I'm glad to be living here, and that my son was brought up here,” said Loftus.

The Luke Loftus Memorial Fundraiser Family Reunion is the only fundraiser held for the Luke Loftus Hope Fund and Lacrosse Fund. By the end of the day, $2,100 was raised for the fund.
