This morning Wheatland County council and other stakeholders assembled near the community of Cheadle to celebrate the opening of a retail service station west of Strathmore along Highway 1 near Cheadle.

Called Origin Business Park, the retail spaces within feature a service station and a number of other businesses like restaurants.

The service station is also now operational, with an upstairs section that is equipped with bathrooms and showers for commercial truck drivers to use, creating another opportunity for motorists to stop along the highway between larger centres that surround communities in the county.

Wheatland County Reeve Amber Link said this is a great development for Wheatland County

“This is a thrilling day for Wheatland County. We could not be more excited to be welcoming Esso, Burger King and Kentucky Fried Chicken to the county. It's very exciting to have these businesses, and it's such an exciting day.”

Origin Business Park is located on the western edge of Wheatland County, on Highway 1 adjacent to the Alberta Weigh Scales. It’s believed that an average of 13,700 vehicles drive past Origin Business Park every day. The development is being built in phases. Construction on the second phase of the Origin Business Park is underway.
