Parliament will be pack in session on Tuesday. That’s what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau revealed to the country this morning in an update about the COVID-19 crisis.

In Alberta today the count of confirmed cases now stands at 259 with 33 new cases and one death in the province. There are now four cases in Strathmore, and four cases in Chestermere, according to the Government of Alberta.

The House of Commons is back in session on Tuesday to approve a financial aid package for the COVID-19 pandemic.

“After conversations with our colleagues on the other side of the aisle, I can now confirm that the House of Commons will be recalled on Tuesday at noon, so we can pass emergency legislation that will put our plan into motion,” said Trudeau.

The Federal Government is trying to quickly pass an $82 billion financial aid package.

They are also going to try to call in only a few of the MPs in order to have a quorum.

Trudeau is urging Canadians to stay home and self-isolate. Over the weekend, Canadian media have revealed a failure of some Canadians to self-isolate and shown a number of people gathering in large groups on beaches and at playgrounds.

“We’ve all seen the pictures online of people who seem to think they are invincible. Well you’re not,” said Trudeau. “Enough is enough. Go home and stay home. This is what we all need to be doing and we are going to make sure this happens. Either by educating people more on the risks or by enforcing the rules, if that is needed,” he said.

According to the Government of Canada, as of March 23, there are now 1432 of Canadians that have COVID-19 and there have been 20 deaths in Canada related to the pandemic.

In the Calgary zone, there are 164 confirmed cases, the largest number in Alberta, compared to 60 cases in the Edmonton zone.
