The Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit (SAD CRU) has recovered numerous stolen vehicles on rural Vulcan County property.
Upon arrival at that property, Vulcan RCMP saw a man dive away in a stolen GMC Sierra pickup truck; he was arrested shortly after.
One officer sustained a minor injury during the arrest.
On April 9, SAD CRU, with the assistance of the RCMP Auto Theft Unit and Vulcan RCMP, executed a search warrant at the rural Vulcan County property. During that time, the RCMP located the following:
- 12 stolen pickup trucks
- A stolen travel trailer
- 2 stolen utility trailers
- 2 stolen dirt bikes
According to the RCMP, evidence led them to believe the property was being used as a chop shop, all vehicles and trailers were stolen from Calgary and surrounding communities, and all registered owners have been notified.
30-year-old William McIntosh from Okotoks has been charged with the following:
- Flight from police,
- Assault on a police officer causing bodily harm,
- Resist arrest,
- Fail to comply with release conditions (x6),
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000,
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000,
- Possession of a controlled substance- crystal meth,
- Possession of a controlled substance- fentanyl.
McIntosh will be appearing in Lethbridge Court on April 26.
