Strathmore Town Council unanimously voted in favour of repairing a sewage system under Ridge Road during Wednesday's council meeting.

Town of Strathmore Infrastructure Manager Ethan Wilson explained this issue has been outstanding for more than a year.

"This item is a misalignment of a sanitary line which reduces the flow velocity of the sanitary and has caused backups. Specifically in this case fats, oils, and greases. It's right around the Co-op gas bar on Ridge Road, upstream of here we've got a couple of restaurants, we've got a hotel, and we've got another gas bar. Those businesses can be affected if this continues to back up in the future," Wilson said.

The repairs will cost $55 000, which will be taken from the Sanitary Capital Reserve.

Wilson noted Epcor has been diligent in maintaining the sanitary system, but the amount of work they've had to on it warranted repairing the system.
