Come Wednesday night, the Calgary Flames might just lose game one of their Stanley Cup playoff series against the Edmonton Oilers. Some may call that wishful thinking. But that’s the prediction from anti-establishment Oilers fan Trevor Don Weal.

Weal won’t be cheering in the sea of red. He won’t be wearing the red and white. He most certainly won’t be cheering Go Flames Go!

He’ll be that guy. You know, the one dot in all of Strathmore with a blue and orange jersey on. He’s an Oilers superfan.

When asked about how he thinks Wednesday night’s game will go, he said, “Game 1 I think is going to be a tight game, but I think Oilers are going come out 4 to 2.”

Weal’s a lifelong hockey fanatic and ride or die Oilers fan. He says he’s been cheering for the Oilers for as long as he can remember.

“I grew up just northwest of Edmonton in a little town called Calahoo. It was just always on a Saturday night to sit on the couch with my mom was and watch a hockey game. It was a big deal,” he said.

That’s probably why there’s no swaying him. If the Flames do win this round, Weal says there absolutely will not be even a small ‘go flames go.’

“I don't see the Flames winning the series, but if it came to that no I'm a die hard Oilers fan. I will not cheer for the Flames.”

The Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers are meeting up for the Battle of Alberta in the second round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.

About how the Oilers have played so far in their first round against the LA Kings he says, “I think they had a good first round, but I think they could have played a lot better. They could have wiped out LA in probably five games. I thought they made a few mistakes and didn't quite play like they can for the whole series.”

And yes, if you do watch Oilers hockey, that guy decked out in Oilers gear on the TV with the blue and orange hair on CTV news this morning, that was him.

The Flames take on the Oilers in Calgary in Game 1 of Round 2 of the playoffs on Wednesday May 18 the puck drop is at 8:30 p.m.
