A Strathmore family showed up for a part of the community often forgot about on Family Day. Jim and Jane Geddes cooked dinner for the clients at the Strathmore Overnight Shelter on Family Day.

Geddes explained what inspired him to cook the meal for the shelter. “Well, I'm a little bit of a weird duck and the Lord, he whispered in my ear that I should go and feed his sheep.”

“So I asked him OK, how does that work and where and when and he led me to the homeless shelter for Family Day and it was just when I got that image in my head, it was just so amazing. So that's how that came about.”

Meat donated from Praeker Farms made the meal possible for the Geddes and it meant the world for those at the shelter.

“They were just so ecstatic because I told them that this was about family and that they're not alone."

Geddes hopes that this act of kindness will inspire others to help out in the community where they can.

"There are so many people in Strathmore that really care for them and that they need to know how much they're loved.”
