12-year-old Olivia Jarvis is heading to the Alberta Winter Games.

Jarvis, who has been a gymnast since she was three years old, received four gold on beams, floor, vault, and all-around performance in last month's trials.

She also finished fourth on bars, despite it being the category she finds most challenging.

Jarvis and her three other teammates will compete for zone 2, which includes Okotoks, Canmore, Airdrie, Chestermere, and Strathmore.

“I would like to thank my coach, Judy; she gives the best pep talks and makes me feel confident,” Jarvis said.

There are eight zones in Alberta, and each participant competes for their zone. Jarvis was the top to qualify in her zone, securing her spot at the games.

To prepare, Jarvis trains 19.5 hours a week in Calgary.

The Alberta Games are just a step in Olivia’s plan as her dream is to one day receive a scholarship with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and then make it to the Olympics.

The Alberta Winter Games will be taking place in Grand Prairie from February 16-19.
