The Strathmore Wheatland Kings returned with two losses over the weekend since the holiday break.

They were bested by the Okotoks Bisons 5-0 on Friday (Jan 5) and then lost again against the Medicine Hat Cubs 5-1 on Saturday (Jan 6).

"We've got a lot of injuries right now. Six guys are on the disabled list, and one guy is suspended. So right now it is just not working out," explained the General Manager of the Wheatland Kings, Lee Smith.

The Arena was closed for most of the holiday break, so the King didn't get as much practice in as they initially wanted to.

"It's okay that we didn't get in the arena as much as we had hoped because we also needed to rest up as well."

Smith is expecting it to be another tough weekend because they are up against the High River Flyers.

"With us having so many injuries and players who are out, it will be a tough game and we need our players more than anything."

The Kings will take on the High River Flyers in High River on Friday (Jan 12) and the Okotoks Bisons for a second time this year on Saturday (Jan 13) at home, both games start at 8:00 p.m.

Saturday night the Kings will be hosting Student Night, sponsored by B-Ranch Smokehouse, where students will get free admission into the game if they show their school ID.
