The Strathmore Musical Arts Society received a big donation thanks to the Golden West Broadcasting Canadian Content Development (CCD) grant.

Strathmore’s radio station CKMR-FM 104.5 More Country donated $4,160 to the society. The CCD funding is a financial contribution made by broadcasters to initiatives that help develop and promote Canadian musical and spoken word content.

“We're super happy to be able to put it back into the community,” explained the marketing manager for the society, Brooke Quinn. “Our first plan with the money is for Sounds of the Prairies, which is a drive-in concert. People will be able to come and see four local artists which we already have picked out and then admission will be by donation to the Wheatland County Food Bank.”

The society loves live music and it has been really hard to pursue their love during the pandemic. Quinn explained that they are really crossing their fingers to host many events in the coming year.

“We strive to bring first-class musical artists to Strathmore, so we really just like to bring music and talent into the community and bring some joy to people.”
