A man wanted on numerous warrants was arrested by local police after a high-speed chase.

On Wednesday, November 3, at approximately 9 p.m., Strathmore RCMP were advised by the Calgary Police HAWCS helicopter they were following a pickup truck into the rural area.

Strathmore police positioned themselves in the area as the pickup truck was monitored by HAWCS travelling at times up to 150km/h. A spike belt was deployed on the pickup truck on Township road 230 near Highway 24 which was successful in deflating the two front tires. The pickup continued on several county roads including Highway 24 and 22X before it stopped in a residential neighbourhood in Carseland. The lone occupant fled on foot.

An RCMP police service dog was used to track the occupant who was found fleeing through a back alley and into a residential back yard. The occupant was apprehended. The investigation determined the pickup was stolen and the occupant was wanted on six outstanding warrants for a collective 48 outstanding charges out of Calgary for property, drugs, failure to comply, weapons, fraud, and driving charges.

A search of the occupant and vehicle yielded weapons and various illicit drugs.
