Last Wednesday the Atom level Strathmore Storm had a successful night beating the Airdrie Lightning 6 to 0.  The game was closer than the score would indicate, and both teams came out to play.  One of the coaches for the Storm, Dallas Ward said, "I think when our kids were putting the pressure on it may have looked one-sided, but that was because of the pressure we were creating. We play our bench whether we are up, or down at this level of hockey we always roll through the whole bench. You are right the goalie was phenomenal, and what I really appreciate about the team is we were up by six goals, and we kept a team game. You have seen a lot of plays being set up, a lot of passing not one man trying to go to the net all the time."

These young players are still trying to get all of their skills working consistently, but sudden plays of genius and inspiration kept the fans watching.  Ward talks about their improvement measures, "Using our speed and keeping the pressure on them. Playing a team game always pressuring the puck getting the puck back on our stick, and then making smart plays with the puck. I don't know if the passes were shakey, it was when they were catching the pass in front of them and kind of getting tight on their sticks sometimes and not getting the best shots off. That is to be expected too, you get a little excited and think you are going to get that shot off, sometimes you tense up on your stick."

It is not over yet, both teams will face each other again this Sunday.
