The Strathmore Venom U17B Lacrosse team had a strong showing at the provincial championships last weekend. While they didn't get a medal, Head Coach Justin Jolly said the team fought hard in the qualifying rounds, as they took their final game to double overtime before unfortunately losing the match. Had they won, they would've had a chance to compete for bronze.

Even though they didn't win a medal, Jolly said he was really proud of the team's effort, and that just making it to provincials is a special accomplishment the team can take pride in. This was the Venom's first provincial championship appearance in a very long time, so going toe to toe with the best the province has to offer was already a big moment for the team.

"It was good, the kids played their hearts out. The kids had fun, some of the kids had a couple tears in their eyes that the season was done... Some of the kids are moving up to juniors next year and I would imagine some kids will move on to A and then and I will never coach them again but I told them I'd go watch them for sure," he said.

The last two seasons have seen incredible success for the Strathmore Venom, as the program has rapidly accelerated from being one of the weaker teams in their league to going toe to toe with the best teams in the province. Jolly hopes this recent success helps the team recruit even more players to reach even greater heights.

"It's really taken off, I hope more kids will actually come and join up."

Jolly wanted to thank all the parents, coaches, and managers that helped make this season as great as it was, saying their efforts and support of the team is what made this season possible.
