Strathmore's Sacred Heart Church is nearing its jackpot goal in their 50/50 fundraising event.

With only eight days until the raffle closes on March 18th, Evan Macleod the Communications Coordinator for Sacred Heart Church noted with more than $11,000 in tickets sold they are over halfway to their goal of $20,000.

Sacred Heart Church has been raising money to help renovate the old IGA building into their new home since 2015.

Macleod is pleased with the progress that’s been made in their fundraising efforts as a whole thus far, “It's quite a few dollars. It’s about $7.2 million that we needed to raise, right now we're at three.”

Macleod explained how they have overcome the challenge of not having a permanent church to gather in thanks in part to Sacred Heart Academy, “We’re about 150 families, it's been kind of crazy that we've been celebrating mass in the gym for 18 years.”

With new families and members joining, the push to start renovating their new space is growing.

Over the course of the year, the Church is planning to host more fundraising events and is thrilled to see the support that their 50/50 has received.

They are excited to see how high the jackpot will be on March 18th.  With the hope of selling out, if they reach their goal of $20,000, there is a potential that the winning ticket holder could walk away with $10,000 on March 19th when the final draw is made.

Currently, the jackpot is at $11,900, to buy your ticket visit sacredhc.ca
