Today, around 12 p.m. a grass fire broke in a field between range road 230 and 231 in Wheatland County. Regional Fire Chief Michael Bourgon reports that it was started due to farm equipment.

Police and fire crews from Rockyford, Standard, Wheatland west and Gleichen were on the scene to fight and contain the blaze.

As well Bourgon would like to thank the multiple bystanders from local farms that were on the scene offering assistance to fire crews.

Thanks to the efforts of fire crews and locals the blaze was contained.
