Wheatland County’s annual general meeting has been postponed to a later date that is currently undetermined. The announcement was made during the March 24 county council meeting, that the AGM is postponed due to the COVID-19 virus.

The county posted this statement on their social media:

“To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Wheatland County is postponing several events as recommended by Alberta Public Health. At this time, we do not know when we will be able to reschedule, but we are planning on re-engaging with you as soon as possible. We are closely following the guidance of the Government of Alberta and are prioritizing the safety and security of our partners and team members during this unprecedented situation.”

The AGM was originally scheduled to take place on March 31 at the Rockyford Community Centre at 7 p.m.

The meeting is typically a time for ratepayers to meet and greet in person with members of county council and county staff. The council discusses budget items, there are staff presentations and people have a chance to ask questions and learn about the services offered by Wheatland County.
