The Junior B Wheatland Kings had two successful home games on February 8 against the Cochrane Generals, and February 9 against the Lomond Lakers.

The match against the Generals had a fast first period, with three goals earned in the last five minutes of the period.

The first goal was earned by Cole Busslinger from Kody Hammond, the second by Robert Butterwick from Ryelee Hebert, and the third by Isaac Benoit from Garret Vander Ploe,g which brought an end to the first period 3-0 Kings.

The second period was fast and defensive, with no goals earned for the Kings, or the Generals. The third period started off with an unassisted goal for the Kings from Garret Vander Ploeg. The Generals fought back with a goal on a powerplay. Shortly after the Kings earned two more goals. The first by Kody Hammond from Eric Sandum, and the second on a powerplay goal by Lucas Muenchrath from Isaac Benoit.

With only four minutes left in the period, the Kings and Generals earned themselves multiple 10 minute penalties for misconduct. This brought the game to an end with a victory of 6-1 for the Kings.

Saturdays' game against the Lakers was fast and defensive at first. Near the end of the first period the Kings scored three goals, the first by Isaac Benoit from Garret Vander Ploeg. The second goal was made by Lucas Muenchrath from Zachary Suntjens, and the third by Kyle Bracko from Chase Clayton, which brought the period to an end with 3-0 Kings.

The second period brought an early powerplay goal for the Kings by Brenden Moore from Garret Vander Ploeg, which was followed up by two more goals from the Kings. The first goal was by Lucas Muenchrath from Isaac Benoit, and the second was earned by Kody Hammond from Cole Busslinger. The Lakers fought back and earned two goals before ending the period 6-2 Kings. The third period had two more goals from the Kings, the first by Garret Vander Ploeg from Lucas Muenchrath, while the second was also by Vander Ploeg from Isaac Benoit. The Generals earned one more goal before the end of the period, but this did not stop the Kings from taking the win with an 8-3.

With two successful home games over the weekend for the Kings, the victories will help the team in the playoffs. The first game in the playoffs for the Kings is on Tuesday, February 12 against the Medicine Hat Cubs at 8:15 p.m. in Strathmore.
