Wheatland County has entered into an agreement with the Wheatland Wind Project LP to support the local community and cultural initiatives.

The program itself has a wide umbrella with a range of possibilities for funding to be allocated to Wheatland County.

This funding umbrella includes but is not limited to local events, scholarships, organizations and initiatives throughout the community.

Wheatland Wind will be giving contributions up to $25,000 yearly for 25 years, this money will fund the programs listed above and help with their broader goal of building community culture and strength.

Reeve Amber Link the Division 2 Councillor spoke on how she sees this project impacting locals

“Quality of life is enhanced through the provision of these support initiatives to community organizations, which nurtures the health and well-being of our communities and contributes to the sustainability of Wheatland County.”

In addition Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Matthew Boscariol speaks about his hopes for the future of this project

‘“I hope that the fund is accessible to as many groups or organizations that require it. There will be a process established for applications for the funds and any funds that are provided to community groups to further enhance and create spaces and organizations in places where people can thrive are exceptional ways to spend money."

Expect to see the first $25,000 allocated to the community after the Wheatland Wind Project is finished construction in 2024.
