A woman has died after being hit by a vehicle in Strathmore.

According to RCMP Staff Sgt. Mark Weilgosz, the collision occurred at 7:45 p.m. on Oct 20. Police were called to the intersection between Thomas Drive and Brentwood Drive.

"We were able to determine that a southbound vehicle had collided with a 38-year-old woman who was in the crosswalk at the time. The woman was taken to Strathmore Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased as a result of the injury sustained in the collision."

Weilgosz points out there were no obvious unusual driving patterns noted at the time. Charges against the man driving the vehicle are pending.

"Our collision analyst did attend the scene and conducted an examination and pending results of that examination, as with the observations from the scene itself, that's at that point in time we'll have a determination on what charges may be appropriate in the circumstances."

Police haven't released the name of the victim but did confirm she was from Calgary.
