The charity hockey game at Rogers Hometown Hockey was held on Saturday night raising funds and food to support the Wheatland County Food Bank and the Jumpstart Program.

Emergency services took on the Midget Storm female hockey team along with NHL Alumni Krys Kolanos, Peter Allen, Myson Raymond, Colin Patterson and Neal Coulter in the first and third period and then played the ringette U19B Ice team in the second period.

The stands were full for the game, and the crowd was not disappointed.  Both teams came out with high energy in the first period and the saw the Storm up 2-0 to end the first.

In the second period hockey sticks were switched out for ringette sticks and the emergency services got two goals quickly in the second, that lead didn't last long as the ringette Ice came back to take the period 8-2, alumni Krys Kolanos even got in on the scoring.

During the evening there was the 50/50 going around and if the split was $500 then Strathmores very own Mayor Pat Fule would take to the ice in a Timbits hockey skills challenge. The crowd on hand took this challenge seriously and enough was raised to get Mayor Fule to take part in the skills challenge, he made it around, but did get lapped by the Timbits players and the medical team jokingly came out to assist.

The third period had the Storm coming back on the ice to try to retain their lead after a hard-fought back and forth third period the emergency services team did come out on top with a 5-4 win.
