There’s a little bit over a month left before the crowds start showing up at the Strathmore agricultural grounds for the annual Strathmore Stampede.

Each year the festivities get better and better, and this year is no exception. From the traditional rodeo to the pageantry, the music, entertainment, and more, Strathmore will be the place to be come July 29th to August 1st.

GM of the Strathmore and District Agricultural Society Ryan Schmidt explained what it’s like planning such a great event.

“We start planning probably in October of the year prior, so we've been at it for quite a while getting ready for this year's Stampede, but it's definitely ramping up as we get closer,” he said.

“It's getting busier, and we're getting more and more excited. Ticket sales are going very strong, I don't think we've ever been on quite a pace like this before, so I think everybody is excited for Strathmore Stampede this summer,” he said.

Back by popular demand are all of the traditional rodeo events.

“We will have World Professional Chuckwagon Racing, the Canadian Professional Rodeo and we'll have the Running with the Bulls for sure."

“The mechanical bull was such a hit last year that we're definitely bringing that back."

Schmidt says this year there will be a bunch of different animals on the grounds for spectators to see.

“Some of them pretty icky, and some of them pretty neat, so you'll have to wait for more details, but it should be fun,” he says.

“I really do think we are going to have our best Stampede this summer.”
