The Town of Strathmore has released a sneak peek into what Canada Day festivities will look like this year.

Country artists Drew Gregory and Alex Hughes will headline the special day.

Hughes says she's excited to be able to play during the fun event.

"I love coming out to perform in Strathmore. I've been able to come out a couple of times and it's always just such a great crowd. I really love that this event will be probably a little more family friendly. So, I think it's going to be a lot of fun."

According to Hughes, country music is huge in Strathmore, "I do feel like, you know, maybe when I go play a show it's a little bit more of an easier win with the crowd."

The performer got her start in country music when she entered into a singing competition when she was seven years old and won.

She was hooked following the performance and has been focused on her career since.

Hughes has spent time performing in Los Angeles, Nashville and is now back in Calgary to work on her music.

"It's been a fun ride in country music, but the best part is just being able to play events like Canada Day and make new friends and new fans and just get to connect with people."

You can also catch Hughes at Nashville North this summer for four shows during the Calgary Stampede.
