Following the death of former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, who passed away on February 29, flags at all Government of Alberta buildings have been lowered to pay their respects.

Mulroney was the 18th Prime Minister of Canada and served from 1984 to 1993.

The Town of Strathmore, along with the Town of Drumheller and other municipalities in the area, currently have their flags flown at half-mast and will keep them lowered until sunset on March 23, which is the day of Mulroney’s funeral.

Earlier this week, the office of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the date and details of Mulroney's funeral.

Prior to Mulroney's service in the House of Commons, he was a prominent labour lawyer and business leader.
