The fourth annual Christmas Hamper Days is on the way.

The team at 104.5 More Country will be collecting food and toy donations for the Strathmore and Wheatland County Christmas Hamper Society at Canadian Tire.

"The whole purpose of it is to enable us to create hampers for children that are part of families in need and that are in the Wheatland County area," explained Chair of the Christmas Hamper Society, Marilyn Galvin.

The need of families varies year by year, however, this year the Hamper Society is budgeting for 268 families in total.

"The item that we need the most is Lego. Our screeners do ask, what is your child's interest and they always say Lego."

Galvin says they struggle with what they should put in the teen's hampers.

"It's hard to find what to put in for a 13,14 or even 18-year-old toy-wise, but we still like to give them you know something. So we are thinking of some personal items or even gift cards. Those have been a big hit before."

The hamper society needs other items besides toys to fill up a hamper.

"We're hoping to provide each recipient with a breakfast and dinner which includes either a Turkey or ham in their hampers. Some items that we are in need of are cereal, pancake mix, syrup, juice, soda crackers, stuffing mix, canned cranberries, gravy, hot chocolate, coffee, and soups."

Their perishables will be done by a gift card which each hamper recipient can go and get themselves and it can be fresh and ready for them.
