As a student, Jaiden Straub has seen a lot of success with her art.  If she is on stage performing, or on canvas creating she pursues excellence.  Achieving awards locally, provincially and even on the national scale, Straub's work is engaging and detailed in its execution.  She submitted her artwork to three different contests, one was called Show off at the Alberta University of the Arts where she was chosen to have her work show within a student exhibit.  The next submittal garnered her some of the highest recognition through the Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day poster contest where she won first place locally, provincially and third in the National level. The Legion piece will be on display in Ottawa next Remembrance Day.  Straub got the idea about the poster, "I wanted something really emotional, and one of my friends showed me the picture and it looked pretty difficult because in the background there is a train and reflection.  It was pretty difficult, but I decided to go forward with it and I liked how it turned out."

The third contest was for the Calgary Stampede, Western Arts Scholarship where she won second place and will be on display at the BMO Western Showcase gallery for the duration of the 10 days.  The inspiration for the horse piece, Straub said, "Growing up I used to do barrel racing and then I broke my left arm, so my mom started to worry. I've tried to buy a horse, but it got too expensive.  Now it is just a passion I hope to pursue, but who knows. "Brandy Roberts has taught Straub for three years and had this to say about her growth, "I think a lot of her success comes from her drive, she is an extremely driven artist and she won't settle for anything but her best.  She is fearless, she tries anything even in her stage performances.  She is doing commission art and has sold one locally."

Straub will be heading to the University of Lethbridge to pursue drama with a minor in art, and hopes to do commission artwork to get extra spending money.
