The Wheatland Kings win again and are determined to secure a playoff spot.

This past weekend (Jan 26), the Strathmore Wheatland Kings won 8-4 against the High River Brewing Co. Flyers in an away game at Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex.

“This was a game we needed to win. We played against the team that's chasing us in the standings, and we needed those two points to keep staying ahead of them,” Lee Smith, General Manager of the Wheatland Kings, said.

Smith said that everyone contributed to the win in their own way, but it especially helped having a few key players back in the game after taking short leaves of absence.

"We had our top guys back, Cage Yellowfly, Phillip Raycroft, and Tegan Skehar, so that helped, and Chase Berg really stepped up and had a three-goal night."

This upcoming weekend, the Wheatland Kings have two very important back-to-back games.

With only five games left in the regular season, every game matters.

“We need to win both games this weekend. We play Three Hills on Friday night, and they are in the North Division, and they are chasing a playoff spot as well, so they’ll be hungry too,” Smith said.

The Wheatland Kings play the Three Hills Thrashers on Friday (Feb 2) night at Centennial Place Arena, and then on Saturday (Feb 3) they will once again play the High River Brewing Co. Flyers, but this time at the Strathmore Family Centre Arena.
