Three local hockey players have been patiently waiting for their chance to play in the Mac’s International Hockey Tournament after it was rescheduled from early 2022 to April.

Now on April 6 – 10, teams will be gathering in Calgary to have a chance to win the famous tournament.

Philip Raycroft, Tate Yule and Ryder Many Grey Horses all are from the Strathmore area and are currently playing with the Okotoks Bow Mark Oilers.

"We have a pretty tough pool against other teams,” explained Phillip Raycroft. “But hopefully we can do our best and win. We have been spending a lot of time practicing and just keeping active for the Macs.”

Raycroft is also excited to live out a little bit of a legacy with his father. “He's played in the tournament and he's also coached the team in there, so now, I guess, it's my turn,” he chuckled.

“Everybody is excited to just get into it and just playing at the tournament is exciting. Everybody is going to be there to watch us.”

Instead of the 30 teams, which were part of the plan for Christmas, the tournament will now feature 24, and the rinks used for the 57 tourney games will be the Max Bell Centre, Father David Bauer Arena, and Flames Community Arenas.
