The U14C Ice Ringette girls' team is on a mission to collect more food donations for the Christmas Hamper Society.

Team members will be placed outside Sobey's (100 Ranch Market) and Co-op (100 Edgefield Gate) on Sunday (Dec.3) collecting donations for the Christmas Hamper Society.

The Events Coordinator of the Ringette Girls team, Lisa Beekman has been involved with the Christmas Hamper Society for several years.

"We've had our teams come in over the years, build boxes, do donations at the grocery store. I just think it's a really good venue for people in our teams to give back to our community, especially at Christmas time," Beekman expressed.

There is a big need for donations at the Christmas Hamper Society because not only do they provide food for your Christmas dinner, but also gifts for the kids and the families.

"The girls are really pumped and excited [for the fundraiser]. We're going to have banners and they're going to wear their jerseys and they're going have a great vibe."

Beekman knows that Strathmore residents really do rally around their community come the holiday season.

"It is time to give back to the community and make Christmas better for a lot of different families in our space and in our town. I am really looking forward to it."

The five items the Christmas Hamper Society is in need of the most are cereal, canned pineapple, canned soup, canned cranberries, and stovetop stuffing.
