A new superintendent has been announced for the Golden Hills School Division (GHSD), the Board of Trustees announced that Jeff Grimsdale has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Schools and Chief Executive Officer for the GHSD effective September 1, 2023

For more than 2 decades, Jeff Grimsdale has worked as a teacher, principal, and director of learning throughout the GHSD. His most recent role was the  Associate Superintendent for GHSD he will now step into his new role of Superintendent. 

"I'm extremely excited to be the Superintendent of Golden Hill School Division. I've been with the school division for 26 years in multiple schools. I just want to continue the great work that we've been doing here in Golden, and we have an amazing group of administrators and hard-working teachers and staff. We're going to continue to focus on our powerful learning framework and look for creative and innovative ways to improve students' achievement and success."

Grimsdale is ready to work with those in the community who want to see GHSD continue to thrive and has several goals set in his mind, "Creating great partnerships with municipalities as well as Siksika will be great and we're going to continue to work on that, and improve those things." 

Getting the chance to watch Bevan Daverne as superintendent and see the success he had in his role and having him as a mentor is something Grimsdale said is priceless.

"Our Division has earned a reputation for high standards, innovative programming and the collaborative work of our staff focused on student achievement. We have a history of success in the partnerships and priorities we pursue. Though there is no doubt that the road ahead will have challenges, I look forward to our work together and feel very optimistic about the future of Golden Hills. The culture we have developed to embrace change and work collaboratively towards common goals will provide the foundation for our future successes. We have a bright future in Golden Hills, and I look forward to exploring all our possibilities and our vision for our work with students.”

Chair of the Golden Hills Board of Trustees Laurie Huntley expressed their excitement as they moved forward.
 
“We were pleased that our Canada-wide search resulted in excellent candidates. Mr. Grimsdale was selected from a field of truly outstanding candidates. We believe that Jeff’s values and ethics, his strong work orientation, his ability to work collaboratively, and his belief in strong positive culture and community are an excellent fit for building on the current strengths of Golden Hills School Division.”

In a release shared by GHSD it noted that "with a strong practical and theoretical background in educational leadership, he holds a Bachelor of Physical Education degree, a Bachelor of Education degree, and a Master of Education degree (educational leadership). Jeff is committed to moving the Division forward through the creation of enhanced educational opportunities for students."
