On March 26, around 1:30 p.m., Gleichen RCMP were patrolling when they saw a man waving a machete around outside of Gleichen Family Foods on Main Street. 

Mounties reported that he was yelling at people on the sidewalk while carrying the machete. 

A 34-year-old resident of Siksika, Teddy Lyndon Yellowfly, was arrested and charged with the following: 

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 
  • Failing to comply with conditions 

Following a judicial hearing, Yellowfly was remanded into custody and will appear in the Siksika Court of Justice on April 11. 

Gleichen RCMP wants to assure the community that they are “diligent, dedicated, and committed to keeping their community safe.”
