The Strathmore Motor Products King of the Week is Noah Van Steenis!

18-year-old defense Van Steenis is playing in his first year with the Wheatland Kings but has been playing hockey for 13 years.

Recently graduated from St. Gabriel the Archangel School in Chestermere, Van Steenis is currently pursuing the path to become a pilot.

He is working at The Calgary International Airport for a small air charter company and will be attending Spring Bank Air Training College for his commercial pilot license.

“I think I will play with the Kings for a few more years. I thank hockey for all that it has given me, but at some point, it's time to hang up the skates and pursue other careers,” Van Steenis said.

When he isn't on the ice, Van Steenis said he enjoys “skiing, dirt biking, and of course hanging out with the boys" in his spare time.

Since joining the team in October, Van Steenis says that he is enjoying his first year with the Kings.

“I love playing for the Kings. It's great hockey. It's the best hockey I’ve played in my life, and it’s really competitive. I really like the Heritage Junior Hockey League..

Van Steenis says he is thankful for the Wheatland Kings coaches, teammates, and his parents.

“Thank you to my parents. They drove me everywhere across Alberta my whole life."

Van Steenis has played 15 games with the Wheatland Kings.

The Kings only have three games left in their regular season, with the next one happening on February 9 against the Airdrie Techmation Thunder at the Rob Ebbsen Arena.
