Unfortunately, the Pincher Creek Mustangs got stuck at the gate when it came to playing the Strathmore High School's Spartans last Friday.    This was largely due to the fact that some smaller schools have a difficult time getting enough players out for spring training.  Travis Gorski, Strathmore High School's Football Head Coach outlined what we can expect for the upcoming season. "We have some new quarterbacks.  We will be splitting the duties between two,  Issac Musselman, and Nick Heaton.  We got a couple of kids that played for Team Alberta, we have two Team Alberta linemen.  The majority of our players are actually going into Grade 10.  Anywhere for 65 to 70 per cent of our team are in Grade 10, so we have a very young team, but a very talented team coming up," he said.

Another new feature to the Strathmore Spartans is the player pool has increased to include players from Holy Cross Collegiate, Wheatland Crossing and Strathmore High School, so they have a combined team.  In terms of play styles it will be changing a little, Gorski talks about the new format, "The strength of our team will be in our line play, so we will be looking at running the ball more.  Also, mix in the passing game but so we will be a very balanced team, last year we were a little pass-heavy."

The Spartans want to "Pack the Stands" for their next big home game on September 27th when they welcome Rundle College.
