Strathmore RCMP have provided more details regarding the crash that took place on Second Avenue earlier today (Jan 18).

The driver of the SUV that crashed into the Value Drug Mart building was an elderly woman in her 80s.

“We are unsure at this point if it was due to road conditions or mechanical failure, but her vehicle failed to stop, and she collided into the park bench in front of Value Drug Mart," a Strathmore RCMP officer said.

The driver sustained minor injuries, and there is only minor damage to the building's exterior.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. this morning.
