Along with many organizations, The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) will be extending the deadline to redeem your prize.

If you have won something on a lottery ticket you would normally have one year to claim your prize, if someone needs to be in quarantine or is self-isolating a winning ticket is set to expire they do not need to worry about missing out on claiming their prize.

The WCLC has extended the deadline on tickets that would have expired between March 17, 2020, and September 17, 2020.

The WCLC is hoping that this decision will support people that are self-isolating and practicing social distancing. This is a change that other Canadian lottery regions are doing as well, in an effort to not affect a players' ability to claim a prize and help in the efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Any ticket that would have expired between March 17 and September 17 of 2020 will now be eligible for a prize claim for an additional six months beyond their original expiry date.
