A public hearing for possible new development in Strathmore is being held tomorrow. The public hearing is to allow residents in Strathmore to voice their opinions on the proposed Legacy Farm Area Structure Plan.

The site for the Legacy Farm project is located directly south of the Strathmore downtown and directly south of the Trans-Canada Highway.

According to the area structure plan submitted to the council, “Legacy Farm will be an outstanding agricultural tourism destination and business hub in the Calgary region. It is envisioned as a dynamic mix of commercial, light agricultural industrial/business, and institutional research uses that focus on agriculture past, present and future.”

The farm will have an agricultural focus that recognizes the rich history of the former CPR demonstration farm. They also plan on developing the site to bring more tourism and business into Strathmore.

The public hearing is to be held virtually on Feburary 16 at 6 p.m.

Any person or group of persons or person acting on someone’s behalf, who claims to be affected by any or all the proposed bylaws may present suggestions or concerns by making a submission to the public hearing.

Those interested in presenting verbally or by written submission were to contact Johnathan Strathdee at johnathan.strathdee@strathmore.ca by 12 noon on Wednesday, February 9th, 2022 in order to register to present.

The public hearing will be live-streamed on the Town of Strathmore’s Youtube page at 6 pm on Wednesday, February 17.
